Kids at the Cliffe works in collaboration with children and in partnerships with families, school staff and community members to build the solid foundation of a high-quality service. We are guided in the development of our program by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Children, The Alice Springs Declaration and the Framework for School Age Care (My Time, Our Place). Our practice is underpinned by a desire for ongoing learning, best practice and quality outcomes fueled by reflective practice and continuous improvement.
Kids at the Cliffe aims to build confident and creative children who grow into successful lifelong learners. We view all children as capable and competent; we encourage them to make decisions that affect them, allowing them to be active participants in their own learning and contributors within their communities. Educators are deliberate, thoughtful, and intentional to promote mutual respect, tolerance and appreciation for diversity and the environment.
Educators develop caring and supportive relationships with children through meaningful interactions that promote each child's wellbeing, learning and development. They are passionate about protecting children from harm and model dignity and kindness to equip children with tools to navigate social interactions, resolve conflicts and build positive connections. Children can then feel safe within these relationships to explore new experiences and have fun.
Educators are committed to providing rich, engaging environments that invite children to investigate, wonder and create. A balance of play and leisure experiences offers opportunities for children to develop their interests, curiosities and explore possibilities.
Kids at the Cliffe values Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures as a core part of the nation's history, present and future. The service is committed to reconciliation and strives to provide a learning environment which builds upon children's understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
The Kids at the Cliffe program ensures that children experience Being, Belonging and Becoming. Children are connected to family, local and global communities - supporting their knowledge of where and with whom they belong. They experience being when they learn about themselves by making choices and building relationships. Their becoming is shaped by their experiences and collective support of the partnerships.
