Welcome to Shorncliffe State School. I feel privileged to be the Principal of this amazing school with a very big heart.
At Shorncliffe we foster seven core values in our learners in all that we do. Shorncliffe students are Curious and Creative learners who are actively Engaged and Independent, who display Resilience as learners and friends and show Respect and Kindness towards others. We explicitly teach social and emotional capabilities through our weekly values lessons and our mindfulness program. Our staff and community are focussed on creating a safe and supportive learning environment where every child thrives.
Our community has high expectations for and a commitment to learning with just the right amount of challenge for all. To achieve this our learning programs, focus on explicitly developing 21st century competencies in our students. These are collaboration, critical thinking, communication, character, creativity and citizenship and are interwoven through all our units of work.
We design learning experiences that build on learner strengths, creating new knowledge using real life inquiries and encouraging our students to be active contributors to the world around them. All learning is aligned to the Australian Curriculum and made locally relevant for our students. We use innovative teaching practices, digital technologies, productive partnerships within and beyond our school and a range of flexible learning environments to engage our students in meaningful learning. Our classroom learning programs are enriched through our Arts, Languages, HPE, STEM and Literature programs.
Our goal is for every Shorncliffe student to develop the skills and capabilities to become responsible contributors to our local and global community.
