Welcome to Shorncliffe State School. It is both a privilege and a responsibility to lead a school with such a proud history, strong community spirit and unwavering commitment to every child. Shorncliffe is a small school with a very big heart, where every student is known, valued and supported to persevere and progress.
At Shorncliffe, our shared belief is that every child can learn and succeed when teaching is intentional, inclusive and grounded in strong relationships. Our Shorncliffe 7 values underpin all that we do. We nurture learners who are Curious and Creative, actively Engaged and Independent, and who demonstrate Resilience, Respect and Kindness in their learning and relationships. These values are explicitly taught and embedded through our wellbeing programs, daily classroom practice and the positive partnerships we build with families.
Our core work is learning. We hold high expectations for growth and achievement, particularly in literacy and reading, ensuring strong foundations for future success. Through explicit teaching, purposeful use of data and a consistent whole-school approach to curriculum, we provide clarity about what students are learning, why it matters and how they can improve. Our Annual Implementation Plan prioritises developing Literate Learners and Resilient Citizens, reflecting our commitment to both academic excellence and student wellbeing.
Learning at Shorncliffe is engaging, purposeful and locally connected. Programs are aligned to the Australian Curriculum and enriched through the Arts, Languages, Health and Physical Education, STEM and Literature. We foster collaboration, critical thinking, creativity and strong character so that students are equipped not only with knowledge, but with the confidence and capability to contribute positively to their world.
Partnership with families is central to our success. We value open communication and work closely with our P&C and broader community to strengthen the connection between school and home, recognising that learning flourishes when we work together.
I look forward to continuing to lead Shorncliffe State School with optimism, clarity and care, ensuring that every child experiences challenge, belonging and success.
